The Loneliness Trap:
Why Widows Stay Stuck… and How to Feel Less Alone Again
A free, faith-friendly live event for widows who feel hollow, stuck, and isolated after losing their person, and want a gentle, practical way to start feeling connected and alive again.
What's your name?
Live on Zoom. Replay sent to all registrants. No cameras. Safe, faith-friendly space
What you'll walk away with:
- Why widow loneliness feels different from “normal” loneliness (you’re not crazy and you’re not broken)
- The most common “traps” that keep widows stuck in isolation, even when they’re surrounded by people
- A simple 3-step plan to build relationships and authentic connection
"It was so devastating that I would spend every day at a grief share meeting because I did not want to go home to that empty house… Emily gave me hope when I had no hope.”
– Wayne F., widower, age 71
“Emily has been my life line to not hide in a corner.”
– Debbie H., Brave Widow Academy member
“I would encourage anyone who is yearning for connection and yearning for someone to understand and guide you, please come to Brave Widow, come to Emily, reach out. It's just amazing... there's nothing like you and Brave Widow out there that I have found on the internet.”
– Karen S., transitioning empty nester
“We have fun. We love each other. We know we can be vulnerable with each other, and we can be brave together.”
– Sue P., widowed since 2021, from Indiana
This is for you if…
- You’ve lost your spouse and feel like no one in your life really “gets it”
- You’re tired of feeling hollow, stuck, or like a burden to others
- You want a faith-friendly space that won’t rush your grief or tell you to “just move on
What to expect:
- Cameras off. You can participate in the chat or just listen.
- No forced sharing, no toxic positivity, no “just be grateful” speeches.
- A compassionate, practical roadmap from someone who’s walked this road, too.

Emily Tanner is a widow, mom of four, and the founder of Brave Widow. When she was 37, her husband Nathan died from Covid and her world fell apart.
In her own grief, Emily saw how little real help there was for widows who needed to rebuild life after loss. She became a certified grief specialist and faith-based life coach so she could guide other widows through the hard parts she had to face alone.
Today, through her coaching, workshops, and the Brave Widow Academy, she helps widows feel less alone, find themselves again, and take small, brave steps toward a life they can enjoy.
